KIMS MBBS fees depend on the seat category you accept. The linked KMU policy provides an open-merit schedule, a general-self-finance schedule and a foreign-self-finance table. Tuition is only one part of each demand, so comparing tuition alone can understate the amount a family needs to arrange.

KIMS here means KMU Institute of Medical Sciences in Kohat. This guide transcribes the source tables, checks their arithmetic and identifies the amounts that need written clarification.

Policy-based reference: this guide explains an earlier edition of the linked KMU policy. Figures and conditions are not independently verified as current. Check the latest KMU notice and written fee demand before applying or paying.

KIMS open-merit MBBS fees, component by component

The policy lists PKR 500,000 at each of the first two academic levels, followed by PKR 550,000 at each of the next three. All amounts in this table are PKR.

Final listed MBBS level——2,00015,000519,00014,000550,000

A dash reproduces a blank source cell; it is not a promise that no charge can be revised or introduced. “KMU retention” is the source’s fee heading.

At the first level, tuition is PKR 461,500, while the full listed total is PKR 500,000. The remaining PKR 38,500 comes from admission, litigation, other charges, KMU retention and the student fund. Budgeting only the tuition line would miss those components.

What do the five listed rows add up to?

PKR 2,650,000: 500,000 + 500,000 + 550,000 + 550,000 + 550,000. This is a calculated subtotal of the source’s five rows. It is not a fixed present-day contract for an entire course, a current fee challan or a quotation that includes living expenses.

Price amounts stay in the editable article tables. Use the current itemised demand before paying.

KIMS general self-finance: why the source prints two amounts

The self-finance table contains two tuition figures and two totals inside each academic-level row. The PDF does not clearly label why there are two series. They are visible in the original page image, so this is not simply an extraction error.

Do not pick a series by guesswork. “Upper” and “lower” below refer only to their position in the printed cell. They do not mean officially confirmed old/new rates, a discount, different genders or different applicant groups.

Two unlabelled KIMS general-self-finance series printed in the source; all amounts PKR
Academic levelTuition: upper positionTuition: lower positionTotal: upper positionTotal: lower position
First1,212,0001,112,0001,250,0001,150,000
Second1,312,0001,212,0001,350,0001,250,000
Third1,412,0001,312,0001,450,0001,350,000
Fourth1,512,0001,412,0001,550,0001,450,000
Final listed MBBS level1,612,0001,512,0001,650,0001,550,000

The non-tuition components printed alongside those pairs add to PKR 38,000 at every listed level. At the first level they are admission 3,500, litigation 5,000, other 1,000, KMU retention 15,000 and student fund 13,500. At the later levels the source lists other charges 6,000, retention 15,000 and student fund 17,000.

The upper-position totals add to PKR 7,250,000; the lower-position totals add to PKR 6,750,000. Their difference is PKR 500,000 across the five rows. Both are source-series arithmetic, not two confirmed options from which an applicant can choose.

Questions to put to the fee office

  • Which printed series applies to the seat and admission notice offered to me?
  • What is the current itemised tuition and non-tuition demand?
  • Is any concession applicable to my category, and where is its written approval?
  • Can the fee be revised for continuing students, and what notice governs that revision?
  • What is payable immediately, and what happens if I later withdraw?

The policy says revised fee structures can apply from time to time. A screenshot of a lower printed number is not a substitute for the current written demand.

Foreign self-finance: keep USD tuition and PKR charges separate

The seat table lists three foreign-self-finance places at KIMS. The foreign-fee page prints US$7,500 and US$7,000 in each tuition cell. Its total-column layout also leaves the relationship between the USD alternatives and PKR charges unclear.

Foreign-fee components: PKR subtotals are separate from the ambiguously printed USD options
Academic levelAdmissionLitigationOtherKMU retentionStudent fundPKR subtotalUSD tuition figures printed
First3,5005,0001,00015,00014,00038,5007,500 and 7,000; applicability unclear
Second——1,00015,00016,00032,0007,500 and 7,000; applicability unclear
Third——1,00015,00015,00031,0007,500 and 7,000; applicability unclear
Fourth——2,00015,00012,00029,0007,500 and 7,000; applicability unclear
Final listed MBBS level——2,00015,00010,50027,5007,500 and 7,000; applicability unclear

The PKR component subtotals can be checked against their individual rows. However, the source does not clearly explain which USD amount applies or whether a printed USD total already includes particular charges. Obtain written confirmation before combining them into a payable demand.

Do not convert the USD figure into a fixed PKR course price using an assumed exchange rate. Ask which currency must be paid, which conversion date/rate is used if conversion is allowed, and which bank or payment instructions are officially valid.

The policy also says a student admitted on a foreign seat continues paying the foreign-student fee despite a later status change. Read that condition before assuming a future nationality or residency change will reduce the cost.

Who does the policy place under the normal-fee heading?

Before the open-merit tables, the document lists open merit, disability seats, federal seats for overseas Pakistanis of KP origin, and MDs/Baluchistan project seats under “Normal Fee”. That heading identifies fee treatment in this policy; it does not create an extra seat in a category missing from the institute’s allocation table.

For example, KIMS’s allocation table has a project row but no separate numbered disability row. Check the current allocation and your offer category as well as the fee heading.

Do not infer that an unpriced item is free or necessarily charged separately. Ask what the existing student fund covers and request an itemised schedule.

Frequently asked questions

What is the first listed KIMS open-merit MBBS fee?

PKR 500,000 in the linked policy, including tuition and the listed non-tuition components. It is a policy-reference figure, not an independently verified current demand.

Is the KIMS self-finance fee PKR 1,250,000 or PKR 1,150,000?

Both appear in the first-level total cell. The policy does not clearly explain the two series. Obtain the applicable current amount in writing instead of choosing one.

Does open merit mean tuition is the only charge?

No. The open-merit table also lists admission, litigation, other charges, KMU retention and a student fund.

Is the five-row open-merit subtotal a guaranteed complete-course price?

No. It is the sum of the listed rows. Revised fees, the current programme requirements and personal living costs need separate confirmation.

Does self-finance remove the merit requirement?

No. The policy requires eligibility and inter se merit within the relevant category. See the open-merit and self-finance guide.
