KIDS has its own BDS fee tables. The linked KMU policy lists separate amounts for open merit and general self-finance, with tuition and several institutional components inside the total. Using KIMS’s MBBS fee by mistake can substantially change your budget.
This guide covers KMU Institute of Dental Sciences in Kohat. It explains every printed fee component, compares the listed academic levels and identifies what the document does not establish about the current programme.
Policy-based reference: this guide explains an earlier edition of the linked KMU policy. Figures and conditions are not independently verified as current. Check the latest KMU notice and written fee demand before applying or paying.
KIDS open-merit BDS fees
The open-merit table lists PKR 400,000 at each of its first two levels and PKR 450,000 at each of the next two. The source shows four BDS fee rows; that is not independent confirmation of the current course structure or the number of fee demands a new entrant will receive.
| Academic level | Admission | Litigation | Other | KMU retention | Tuition | Student fund | Listed total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| First | 3,500 | 5,000 | 1,000 | 15,000 | 361,500 | 14,000 | 400,000 |
| Second | — | — | 1,000 | 15,000 | 368,000 | 16,000 | 400,000 |
| Third | — | — | 1,000 | 15,000 | 419,000 | 15,000 | 450,000 |
| Fourth listed BDS level | — | — | 2,000 | 15,000 | 421,000 | 12,000 | 450,000 |
All amounts are PKR. A dash reflects a blank source cell, not a guarantee that no subsequent charge or revision can apply.
At the first listed level, tuition is PKR 361,500, while the complete listed total is PKR 400,000. The additional PKR 38,500 consists of admission, litigation, other charges, KMU retention and the student fund.
The four totals add to PKR 1,700,000. Use that as a subtotal of the source rows, not as a current all-inclusive BDS course quotation.

KIDS general-self-finance BDS fees
The general-self-finance schedule has a different tuition progression. Its listed totals rise from PKR 800,000 to PKR 950,000 across the four rows.
| Academic level | Admission | Litigation | Other | KMU retention | Tuition | Student fund | Listed total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| First | 3,500 | 5,000 | 1,000 | 15,000 | 762,000 | 13,500 | 800,000 |
| Second | — | — | 1,000 | 15,000 | 817,000 | 17,000 | 850,000 |
| Third | — | — | 1,000 | 15,000 | 867,000 | 17,000 | 900,000 |
| Fourth listed BDS level | — | — | 1,000 | 15,000 | 917,000 | 17,000 | 950,000 |
At the first listed self-finance level, tuition is PKR 762,000. The other printed components add to PKR 38,000, bringing the total to PKR 800,000. In each later row the source prints other charges 1,000, KMU affiliation/retention 15,000 and student fund 17,000, a non-tuition subtotal of PKR 33,000.
The four self-finance totals add to PKR 3,500,000. As with the open-merit subtotal, this describes the listed schedule rather than a guaranteed current complete-course price.
Open merit versus self-finance: the listed difference
| Listed level | Open merit: PKR | General self-finance: PKR | Difference: PKR |
|---|---|---|---|
| First | 400,000 | 800,000 | 400,000 |
| Second | 400,000 | 850,000 | 450,000 |
| Third | 450,000 | 900,000 | 450,000 |
| Fourth listed BDS level | 450,000 | 950,000 | 500,000 |
| Subtotal of four source rows | 1,700,000 | 3,500,000 | 1,800,000 |
The difference across the four source rows is PKR 1,800,000. It is a comparison between the printed institutional schedules, not an estimate that includes every personal or clinical expense.
Your accepted seat category matters. Do not assume that paying the first open-merit amount is sufficient after accepting a self-finance offer, or that the same aggregate automatically converts a self-finance seat to open merit.
Why a four-row schedule is not a current course-duration answer
Admission policies and dental programme structures can change. This PDF is an earlier policy edition and its BDS schedule stops after the fourth listed level. That establishes what the document prints, not what every new BDS entrant is currently required to study or pay.
Before relying on a course-wide total, ask KIDS to confirm the applicable BDS structure, each billable academic or training stage, any required house-job arrangements and the current fee schedule for those stages. Do not append an invented extra fee row or assume an unlisted stage is free.
Does the foreign-fee table create a KIDS foreign seat?
No. The seat-distribution table prints zero foreign-self-finance places for KIDS. The document’s later generic MBBS/BDS foreign-fee heading is not an allocation notification.
Do not treat its USD figures as a verified available foreign BDS route. Ask KMU for a current programme-specific allocation before considering that category. Our seat-distribution guide separates the allocation table from the general category descriptions.
What to ask about hostel, instruments and other costs
- What is included in the student fund, tuition and institutional charges?
- Are hostel places available, and what are the actual accommodation, mess and utility charges?
- Which dental instruments, clinical materials, books, uniforms or other items must the student arrange?
- Are any deposits refundable, and which written rules govern them?
- Can continuing students be charged a revised schedule, and how will it be communicated?
The fee tables do not provide a complete price list for those items. Avoid a budget that labels every unpriced cost as either free or definitely additional.
Payment and withdrawal decisions
The policy links admission to timely payment and describes short payment windows in the merit-list process. The actual offer and current notice must be checked for the applicable due date and payment method.
Before accepting a place while waiting for another option, read the policy’s non-refund, withdrawal and undertaking provisions. Admission-round upgradation can have different fee-transfer treatment from voluntary withdrawal or later migration. The student-rules guide explains those distinctions.
Frequently asked questions
What is the first listed KIDS open-merit fee?
PKR 400,000 in the linked policy, of which PKR 361,500 is tuition. Confirm the current demand before paying.
What is the first listed KIDS general-self-finance fee?
PKR 800,000 in the source schedule, including tuition of PKR 762,000 and the other listed components.
Are the printed totals only tuition?
No. Each total also includes the applicable non-tuition entries. Use the itemised table rather than comparing tuition alone.
Does PKR 1,700,000 cover every current BDS cost?
No. It is only the sum of the four open-merit rows in the earlier policy. Current programme structure, revised demands and personal costs need separate confirmation.
Can a KMU ward use the KIDS general-self-finance route?
The seat table includes one KIDS KMU-ward GSF place, subject to the policy’s eligibility requirements. Confirm the fee applicable to the offered subcategory; do not assume an unprinted concession.
