Every year, students who miss a government seat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ask us the same thing: "How much will a private medical college in KPK really cost?" The answers floating around on social media are usually last year's numbers, or a guess. Parents then sit down at the bank with a figure that is lakhs away from the real challan.
So we did the slow work. We opened the official website of every private medical and dental college in KP, downloaded its fee schedule for session 2026-27 (or 2025-26 where the new one is not out yet), and checked each one against the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) fee caps on pmdc.pk and the 2026-27 private admission notice of Khyber Medical University (KMU). No coaching sites, no listing sites, no news reports. Where a college's own documents disagree with each other, we tell you.
The short answer: for session 2026-27, the first-year bill for MBBS at KP private colleges that have published it runs from Rs 20.75 lakh (Frontier Medical College) to Rs 21.55 lakh (Rehman Medical College). That counts tuition, the one-time admission fee and the university and PM&DC charges each college lists, but not the refundable security (Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh) or hostel. Tuition alone is Rs 19.80 lakh to Rs 21.17 lakh a year. For BDS, the 2026-27 first-year bill is about Rs 20.9 lakh to Rs 21.5 lakh. Two colleges still show only 2025-26 fees: Abbottabad International (Rs 22.05 lakh) and Muhammad College of Medicine (Rs 20.32 lakh). The whole MBBS degree costs about Rs 1.08 crore to Rs 1.17 crore. Admission is centralised: you apply once on KMU's portal, caspr.kmu.edu.pk, and the last date for 2026-27 is 9 November 2026.

Which private colleges are in KP's 2026-27 admissions?
KMU's admission notice for private sector medical and dental colleges, MBBS/BDS session 2026-27 lists 10 medical colleges and 5 dental colleges. PM&DC's own lists of recognised private medical and dental colleges on pmdc.pk show exactly the same 15 colleges in KPK, with these seat allocations:
- MBBS (1,200 seats): Northwest School of Medicine, Pak International Medical College, Peshawar Medical College and Rehman Medical College have 150 seats each. Abbottabad International Medical College, Frontier Medical College, Jinnah Medical College, Kabir Medical College, Muhammad College of Medicine and Women Medical College have 100 each.
- BDS (300 seats): Rehman College of Dentistry and Sardar Begum Dental College have 75 each. The dental sections of Abbottabad International Medical College and Women Medical College, and Peshawar Dental College, have 50 each.
Two more names cause confusion. Swat Medical College and the Dental Section of Frontier Medical College appear on the college list page of KMU's private portal and in PM&DC's list of institutes with attached hospitals. But neither is in KMU's 2026-27 admission notice, and neither is on PM&DC's private college lists. PM&DC's hospital list notes that Swat Medical College's notification is "still awaited", and that Frontier's dental section was "provisionally recognized by erstwhile PMC". We show their published fees at the end, but do not plan on them for 2026-27 unless KMU adds them.
Fee of every private medical college in KPK (MBBS)
"First-year total" is what the college's own schedule lists for year one: tuition, one-time admission or registration fee, and the university and PM&DC charges where the college shows them. It leaves out the refundable security deposit, hostel, transport, mess and taxes.
| College | City | Tuition, 1st year | First-year total | Session |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rehman Medical College | Peshawar | Rs 2,035,000 | Rs 2,155,000 | 2026-27 |
| Kabir Medical College | Peshawar | Rs 1,984,500 | Rs 2,144,500 | 2026-27 |
| Peshawar Medical College | Peshawar | Rs 2,116,500 | Rs 2,116,500 plus PM&DC charges | 2026-27 |
| Jinnah Medical College | Peshawar | Rs 1,984,500 | Rs 2,090,500 | 2026-27 |

Fee of every private dental college in KPK (BDS)
| College | City | Tuition, 1st year | First-year total | Session |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sardar Begum Dental College | Peshawar | Rs 1,984,500 | Rs 2,144,500 | 2026-27 |
| Women Dental College, WMC (girls only) | Abbottabad | Rs 1,984,500 or Rs 2,022,300 | Rs 2,089,000 or Rs 2,127,746 | 2026-27 |
| Peshawar Dental College | Peshawar | Rs 2,116,500 | Rs 2,116,500 plus PM&DC charges | 2026-27 |
| Rehman College of Dentistry | Peshawar | Rs 1,985,000 | Rs 2,105,000 | 2026-27 |
| AIMC Dental Section | Abbottabad | Rs 2,104,102 | Rs 2,205,384 | 2025-26 |
Notice how close the numbers are. Most colleges charge Rs 1,984,500 in tuition. That is PM&DC's Rs 1.89 million cap for 2025-26 plus 5%, which several colleges say they assumed for the 2026-27 inflation (Consumer Price Index, CPI) increase. We explain why that matters in the PM&DC section below.
What the whole degree costs
We added up every year in each college's own schedule (five years for MBBS, four for BDS), with the same items as above. These are the colleges' projections for later years. PM&DC's rules say the fee schedule that applies at admission stays fixed for that student, and any CPI increase is notified by PM&DC, so treat the later years as a planning figure.

| College | Programme | Whole degree (our sum) | Refundable security |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peshawar Medical College | MBBS | Rs 11,694,700 plus PM&DC charges | Not listed |
| Rehman Medical College | MBBS | Rs 11,610,000 | Rs 200,000 |
| Kabir Medical College | MBBS | Rs 11,578,170 | Rs 150,000 |
| Women Medical College | MBBS | Rs 11,332,700 | Rs 100,000 |
| Jinnah Medical College | MBBS | Rs 11,271,615 | Rs 200,000 |
| Northwest School of Medicine | MBBS | Rs 11,259,605 | Not charged |
| Pak International Medical College | MBBS | Rs 11,259,105 | Rs 100,000 |
| Frontier Medical College | MBBS | Rs 11,122,000 | Rs 100,000 |
| Muhammad College of Medicine (2025-26) | MBBS | Rs 11,119,859 | Rs 250,000 |
| Abbottabad International (2025-26) | MBBS | Rs 10,798,092 | Rs 100,000 |
| Peshawar Dental College | BDS | Rs 9,122,200 plus PM&DC charges | Not listed |
| Sardar Begum Dental College | BDS | Rs 9,044,450 | Rs 150,000 |
| Women Dental College, WMC | BDS | Rs 8,846,700 or Rs 9,234,342 | Rs 100,000 |
| Rehman College of Dentistry | BDS | Rs 8,875,000 | Rs 150,000 |
| AIMC Dental Section (2025-26) | BDS | Rs 8,664,290 | Rs 100,000 |
Example of our working, Rehman Medical College: college dues of Rs 2,075,000 + 2,135,000 + 2,240,000 + 2,350,000 + 2,470,000 = Rs 11,270,000, plus university charges (Rs 50,000 × 5), basic health cover (Rs 15,000 × 5) and the one-time PM&DC registration (Rs 15,000) = Rs 11,610,000. Muhammad College of Medicine marks its KMU charges for years 2 to 5 with an asterisk and gives no amount, so its total includes only the first year's KMU charges.
College-by-college fee details
Each section gives the official figures, what is included, hostel and transport if the college lists them, the teaching hospitals named in PM&DC's list, and the PM&DC tuition cap that applies to that college.
Rehman Medical College (RMC), Peshawar
MBBS, batch 2026-31, session 2026-27. Admission fee Rs 40,000 (once). The schedule shows a "PM&DC authorised" tuition of Rs 2,115,000, less an RMI institutional subsidy of Rs 80,000, so net tuition is Rs 2,035,000. Third-party dues: university charges Rs 50,000 a year, basic health coverage Rs 15,000 a year, PM&DC registration Rs 15,000, plus taxes at actual. Refundable security Rs 200,000, returned after the house job. Foreign and overseas Pakistani students pay US$10,000 a year (all-inclusive, including hostel and transport) plus a US$200 admission fee; non-expatriate foreigners on special-quota seats pay US$8,000. Hostel and transport are available first come, first served at separately notified rates. Hospital: Rehman Medical Institute. PM&DC cap for "Rehman Medical & Dental College": Rs 2,118,971 (notification of 11 March 2026). RMC's own note says its later-year figures assume a 5% CPI increase and that it has made a representation to PM&DC about the 2026-27 CPI notice. RMC fee structure 2026-31.
Kabir Medical College (KMC), Peshawar
MBBS, batch 2026-2031. Tuition Rs 1,984,500, admission fee Rs 30,000, university registration Rs 30,000 (once) and university examination fee Rs 100,000 in year one, rising each year. Refundable security Rs 150,000. The schedule says each year's fee rises 5% and "may be adjusted as per annual CPI". Foreign and overseas students pay US$7,500 a year. Discounts: 4% for paying the full year's tuition at once, 2% for two instalments. Hospitals: Naseer Teaching Hospital (own), Town Teaching Hospital and Maqsood Medical Complex (affiliated). Kabir and Sardar Begum fall under Gandhara University, whose fee page is gandhara.edu.pk/fee-structure. PM&DC lists Kabir among colleges that did not apply for an enhancement, capped at Rs 1,890,000 for 2025-26.
Peshawar Medical College (PMC), Peshawar
MBBS, session 2026-27. The schedule lists only the college's annual tuition: Rs 2,116,500 in year one, Rs 11,694,700 over five years. It says government taxes, PM&DC charges and other permitted charges are extra, but gives no amounts, and lists no admission fee or security. It tells students to "budget 5% to 10% annual increase to be notified by PM&DC". Self-finance, overseas Pakistani and dual national students pay US$10,000 a year; foreigners on over-and-above seats US$7,500. Optional: hostel Rs 220,000 a year (electricity at actual), transport Rs 204,000 a year. Hospitals: Kuwait Teaching Hospital, Mercy Teaching Hospital and Prime Medical Complex (all own). PM&DC's notification of 4 August 2026 caps "Peshawar Medical and Dental College" at Rs 2,116,552. PMC admissions and fee structure.
Jinnah Medical College (JMC), Peshawar
MBBS batch XVI, 2026-27. Tuition Rs 1,984,500, admission fee Rs 39,000 and an application fee of Rs 2,000 (once). External charges: university registration, retention and exam fee Rs 50,000 a year and PM&DC registration Rs 15,000. Security Rs 200,000, refundable after the house job. Foreign students US$7,500 a year; overseas Pakistani students US$10,000. Hostel and transport Rs 19,000 a month (without mess), mess Rs 17,000 a month, day-scholar transport Rs 17,000 a month. The college assumes a 5% or CPI-based yearly rise and says it may revise the schedule before admissions close. Hospitals: Jinnah Teaching Hospital (own) and DHQ Teaching Hospital, Charsadda (affiliated). JMC fee structure 2026-27.
Women Medical College (WMC), Abbottabad
MBBS, session 2026-27, female students only. Tuition Rs 1,984,500, admission fee Rs 39,500, PM&DC registration Rs 15,000 and university charges Rs 50,000 (estimated), for a total of Rs 2,089,000. Refundable security Rs 100,000. Five-year total Rs 11,332,700. Foreign nationals pay US$7,500 a year. Optional: hostel Rs 13,500 a month, mess Rs 14,000 a month, transport Rs 6,000 a month, each rising 10% a year. The 2026-27 admission policy says fees go only to the college's official bank account, no more than one year's fee is accepted at a time, there is "a strict NO DONATION POLICY", and need-based scholarships are offered under the college's policy. Hospitals: Jinnah International Hospital (own), Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Teaching Hospital and Women & Children Hospital (affiliated). PM&DC deferred WMC's enhancement request (remark "UDIN not verified"), so its cap stays at Rs 1,890,000 for 2025-26. WMC fee structure 2026-27.
Northwest School of Medicine (NWSM), Peshawar
MBBS 11th batch, session 2026-31. Tuition Rs 1,984,500 and admission fee Rs 39,690. KMU and PM&DC charges: Rs 62,200 in year one (exam fee Rs 19,200; registration, affiliation and retention Rs 43,000), then Rs 41,700 to Rs 53,000 a year. NWSM is the only college here whose page says "No student shall be required to provide any form of security for payment of fee". Self-finance, overseas Pakistani and dual national students pay US$10,000 a year plus a US$200 admission fee; foreigners on over-and-above seats US$8,000 plus US$160 (the table labels this row "Exam fee", which looks like a typo for tuition). Hostel Rs 18,500 a month in year one, without AC and mess. Hospitals: Northwest General Hospital I and II (own). NWSM fee structure.
Pak International Medical College (PIMC), Peshawar
MBBS, session 2026-27 (schedule dated 20 August 2026). Tuition Rs 1,984,500, admission fee Rs 39,690, refundable security Rs 100,000. Foreign and overseas Pakistani students pay US$10,000 a year; foreign non-expatriates on over-and-above seats US$8,000. Hostel Rs 180,000 a year, with electricity by meter and mess extra. Hospitals: Peshawar Institute of Medical Sciences (own) and Fauji Foundation Hospital (affiliated). One problem: PM&DC's notification of 4 August 2026 caps PIMC's tuition at Rs 1,928,812, which is lower than the Rs 1,984,500 in PIMC's 2026-27 schedule. Also, the link on PIMC's fee page labelled "Fee Structure Session 2026-27" opens the 2025-26 PDF; the 2026-27 table is the image on the same page. PIMC fee structure.
Frontier Medical College (FMC), Abbottabad

Five-year total printed by the college: Rs 11,222,000 including security. Foreign students pay US$10,000 a year plus the same rupee charges. Hostel Rs 8,800 a month without mess and utilities, transport Rs 13,200 a month, both rising 7.5% a year. Hospitals: Abbottabad Medical Complex (own) and THQ Havelian (affiliated). AIMC's tuition equals the PM&DC cap approved for "Abbottabad Int. Medical Institute" on 11 March 2026: Rs 2,104,102. AIMC fee structure 2025-26.
Muhammad College of Medicine (MCM), Peshawar

Four-year total without security Rs 9,044,450. Foreign and overseas students US$7,500 a year (the dollar table is headed with 2025-26 to 2028-29 years, a leftover from last year's layout). How admission to private colleges works in KP

Private admissions in KP are centralised through KMU. KMU's notice quotes a KP Health Department notification of 22 July 2024: after cabinet approval on 27 June 2024, KMU is the admitting university for MBBS and BDS "in all public and private sector Medical/Dental colleges of the province". The private portal is separate from the public one: caspr.kmu.edu.pk for private colleges, cas.kmu.edu.pk for public colleges. Under PM&DC's regulations, each private college then completes admissions "from the merit list displayed by the admitting university".
Eligibility in the 2026-27 notice: at least 60% in HSSC or FSc pre-medical (or equivalent), an MDCAT of 2024, 2025 or 2026 with at least 55% for MBBS and 50% for BDS (99 and 90 out of 180), and a domicile of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or the Merged Districts. Foreign-quota candidates follow section 7 of PM&DC's regulations. Our KMU eligibility guide explains each rule.
Merit formula: 10% SSC (Matric), 40% HSSC (FSc) and 50% MDCAT, the same weights as public colleges. Work out yours with the private medical college merit calculator or the aggregate calculator, and read how the MDCAT aggregate is calculated. KMU's final 2025-26 private open-merit MBBS list ranked 2,580 candidates and noted "preference to KP domicile holders as priority one"; candidates from other provinces were to be considered only if seats fell vacant.
Seat types on the portal: KMU's private portal lists two categories that are open: local seats (private) and foreign self-finance (private). Each costs Rs 3,000 as a processing fee, paid separately for MBBS and BDS.
Paying: the notice says you must deposit your fee in KMU's account within three working days of the offer letter, or the seat goes to the next candidate. KMU keeps the initial payable fee, "minimum Rs 600,000", until you are admitted to a private college or ask for it back, then passes it to the college or to you. Your admission is confirmed when you hand over original documents and pay "the remaining balance of the prescribed fee" to the college. KMU's 2025-26 merit list added that on an upgrade, the old college must repay your fee within 24 hours.
One thing to double-check: Kabir Medical College and Sardar Begum Dental College's 2026-27 admission policy says their admission process runs through admissions.gandhara.edu.pk, while KMU's notice lists both colleges under its central admission. Apply on KMU's portal, and ask the college whether you also need to register there.
PM&DC's rules on private college fees
PM&DC now fixes a maximum tuition for every private college, and the cap includes "all ancillary charges". The key notices, all on PM&DC's public announcements page:
- 28 April 2025: tuition capped at Rs 1.8 million for session 2024-25.
- 6 October 2025: a 5% increase for 2025-26, so Rs 1,890,000, "with subsequent annual increases linked to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rate from Session 2026-27 onward".
- 11 March 2026: higher caps approved for 19 colleges after audits, including Rehman Medical & Dental College (Rs 2,118,971) and Abbottabad International (Rs 2,104,102). Peshawar Medical College, Peshawar Dental College, Women Medical College and Pak International were deferred; nine other KP colleges had not applied. Both groups may not charge more than Rs 1,890,000 for 2025-26. Any 2026-27 CPI adjustment "shall be notified separately".
- 4 August 2026: further caps, including Peshawar Medical and Dental College (Rs 2,116,552) and Pak International Medical College (Rs 1,928,812).
We could not find a PM&DC notice on pmdc.pk that sets the CPI increase for 2026-27. Most colleges' 2026-27 tuition of Rs 1,984,500 is the 2025-26 cap plus an assumed 5%. Rehman, Jinnah and Frontier say in their schedules that the figures will follow whatever PM&DC notifies. PM&DC's notice says fees above the caps are "unlawful", must be refunded or adjusted, and can draw a penalty of up to Rs 2 million per complaint. If a college charges more than its cap, complain at complaints.pmdc.pk.
Other PM&DC rules that protect you (Admissions, Curriculum and Conduct Regulations 2026, notified on 12 October 2026):
- You may pay quarterly, six-monthly or yearly. Paying six months in advance earns a 2% discount on tuition; a full year in advance, 4%.
- No college may charge tuition or other fees before the academic session starts, or ask for security for fee payment.
- If you leave after admission, the college may keep tuition pro rata plus a penalty of up to 10% of the annual fee, but no penalty if you leave before the closing date of admissions.

Public vs private: what you save with a government seat

| Seat | MBBS first year | Whole MBBS | Whole BDS |
|---|---|---|---|
| KMU public, open merit | Rs 87,000 to 102,000 | Rs 4.71 to 5.75 lakh | Rs 3.61 to 4.39 lakh |
| KMU public, self-finance (GSF) | Rs 11.62 to 12.62 lakh | Rs 67.62 to 72.62 lakh | Rs 35.12 lakh |
| Private college (KMU-listed) | Rs 20.32 to 22.05 lakh | Rs 1.08 to 1.17 crore | Rs 86.64 to 92.34 lakh |
Public figures are from KMU's admission policy, explained in our KMU MBBS and BDS fee structure guide. A private MBBS costs about 20 times an open merit seat, and roughly one and a half times a self-finance seat in a government college. A self-finance seat is a seat inside a public college, in the same classes as open merit; see self-finance vs open merit. If you are an overseas Pakistani or dual national, also compare KMU's dollar seats in our foreign self-finance guide.
The public colleges and their seats are in KMU college-wise seats. A few MDCAT marks can be worth a crore of rupees, which is why a second attempt is sometimes the smartest financial decision. If you are weighing that, read what to do if you are not selected.
How to compare private colleges (beyond the fee)
With first-year bills inside a Rs 2 lakh band, the fee should not be the only thing you compare.
- Recognition: confirm the college is on PM&DC's private college list for your year and in KMU's admission notice. A college that is off the list cannot admit you through KMU.
- Teaching hospital: PM&DC's list names each college's own and affiliated hospitals. Your clinical years happen there, so visit if you can and check its size and patient flow.
- The real total: add security, hostel, mess and transport. Hostel alone ranges from Rs 8,800 a month without mess (AIMC) to Rs 27,500 a month with mess (Women Dental College), and PMC lists Rs 220,000 a year.
- Yearly increases: some schedules assume 5% a year, MCM 7.5%, PMC asks you to budget 5% to 10%. PM&DC's CPI notice decides the actual rise.
- Girls-only options: Women Medical College and its dental section in Abbottabad admit female students only.
- Distance from home: 10 of the 15 KMU-listed colleges are in Peshawar and five are in Abbottabad.
Scholarships and fee concessions
We only list what the colleges publish on their own websites. Amounts depend on each college's committee, so ask for the current form when you are admitted.
- Rehman Medical College: merit-cum-deserving scholarships for fresh intake, performance-based scholarships, distress scholarships for students who lose a parent, and concessions for RMI employees' children (RMC scholarships). RCD has its own scholarships page.
- Peshawar Medical and Dental College: a Financial Support / Scholarship Policy and application form on the admissions pages.
- Women Medical and Women Dental College: need-based scholarships "as per policy", with an application form on the website.
- Pak International Medical College: a scholarship policy page on its website.
- Everyone: PM&DC's 2% and 4% advance-payment discounts on tuition.

Is admission to private medical colleges in KP done through KMU?
Yes. KMU is the admitting university for all public and private medical and dental colleges in KP. For private colleges you apply on caspr.kmu.edu.pk; for 2026-27 the last date is 9 November 2026.

What is the fee for overseas Pakistani and foreign students?
KP private colleges charge US$7,500 to US$13,000 a year in tuition for overseas, dual national and foreign seats, paid in foreign exchange. PM&DC allows up to US$15,000 (US$20,000 with approval).
Do I pay the full fee to KMU?
No. You first deposit the amount KMU asks for in its account within three working days of the offer; KMU keeps at least Rs 600,000 of it until you are admitted or withdraw. You pay the balance to the college when you submit your original documents.
A private seat is a Rs 1 crore decision, and the cheapest way to make it is not to need it. Every mark you add in MDCAT moves you up KMU's merit list, towards a Rs 5 lakh government seat or at least your first-choice private college.
