A complete application is more than a marks entry. For KIMS and KIDS, programme choice, college preferences, category evidence and the response to an offer all affect whether a candidate can secure a place.

The linked KMU policy describes an online process. This guide turns its requirements into a practical checklist while separating document uploads from originals and later admission-stage requirements.

Policy-based reference: this guide explains an earlier edition of the linked KMU policy. Figures and conditions are not independently verified as current. Check the latest KMU notice and written fee demand before applying or paying.

Begin with the current notice and the correct programme

Use KMU’s admission portal through the university’s official notices. The policy says the application is online and that forms sent by post, courier or another method are not entertained as a replacement.

It also requires separate applications for medical and dental programmes. Complete the required choice for MBBS, BDS or both according to the current portal’s process; do not assume one programme application covers the other.

Check the current opening/closing notice, available categories, applicable payment method and the programme’s required evidence. The older document’s calendar dates are not a current application deadline.

Documents for the initial application

Prepare documents according to the evidence relevant to your case
Document groupPolicy requirementPractical check
Educational resultsDetailed marks certificates for the examinations on which admission is soughtNames, marks, totals, board and qualification details agree with the form.
Foreign-system qualificationsApplicable IBCC equivalence before the closing date, with the policy’s science-subject and English conditionsHave the equivalence and original academic evidence required for your case; do not assume an application receipt is the certificate.
Applicant identityComputerised CNIC or Form BUse a clear, valid document matching the applicant’s records.
Applicant and parent domicileRelevant KP/MDs domicile evidence for the selected categoryCheck the correct parent-document rule for your circumstances.
Parent identity and death evidence where applicableFather’s CNIC; where the father has died, relevant mother/guardian identity and required death/domicile documentsPrepare the full supporting chain rather than substituting one unrelated document.
Last attended institutionCertificate with the duration of stayMake sure its period and institution match the educational record.
Different FSc Part I/II institutionsCertificate identifying where each part was studiedDo not leave the change unexplained.

The policy refers to the MDCAT eligibility/result used for merit. Follow the current portal’s result-evidence fields along with the academic documents above.

Extra documents for particular categories

Additional evidence depends on the category
CaseEvidence described in the policy
KMU wardsKMU establishment-section service certificate showing length of service and the nature of employment, such as regular, fixed-pay or retired.
Disability-related considerationSocial Welfare disability certificate, prescribed medical proforma from the relevant certified specialist and NADRA identity showing disability status, followed by the specified board process.
Merged Districts/backward-area evidenceEducational-institution location certificates; location/non-existence evidence countersigned by the relevant DEO and DC where applicable.
Overseas-Pakistani category mentioned in the documentParent’s valid OPF membership and Foreign Exchange Remittance Card, valid at the closing date, where that category is actually offered.
Foreign self-financeEvidence supporting the stated nationality/residency, overseas education, domicile and last-institution conditions.

A generic document entry does not establish that an institute currently has a seat in that category. Check the numbered KIMS/KIDS allocation and the relevant nomination or category notice.

Uploads, originals and board migration certificates are different stages

The policy calls for scanned educational documents with the application. Selected candidates must produce originals at the interview/admission stage, and the text says the college retains originals until the student leaves.

The board migration certificate is specifically listed for admitted candidates to submit at the receiving college. It is an academic-board document, not permission to migrate from KIMS or KIDS to another medical or dental college later.

Keep readable copies of documents you submit and ask for an acknowledgement when originals are retained. The policy also asks a parent to accompany the candidate for the admission interview. Use the actual current checklist and reporting instructions.

Which file format and upload size should I use?

This policy does not establish a single portal-wide scan format or file-size ceiling. Follow the current KMU field instructions. Do not import another university’s JPEG, PNG or document-size rule into this application.

College preferences: order the choices you are willing to accept

The policy says applicants must list colleges in preference order and will not be offered a college they omitted. Build the list from options you would genuinely accept, considering programme, category, location and the fee demand.

  1. Check the institutes and categories for which you are eligible.
  2. Read their fee schedules and any unresolved cost questions.
  3. Rank acceptable choices in your genuine order.
  4. Review the final list and all application entries before submitting.

The warnings say submitted domicile and result documents are treated as final and that certificates/results issued after the applicable closing date are not entertained in the stated circumstances. Do not rely on an assumed later edit window; check the current correction procedure.

Merit lists, objections and placement

The source describes category-wise lists and written objections to the Chairman KMU-AC before placement interviews, followed by a final list. It also describes merit-cum-choice interviews and participation by the relevant authorities for Merged Districts cases.

Keep the email address and contact numbers working. The policy asks for an email address and three contactable telephone numbers; the actual live form determines the fields you must complete. Monitor official notices rather than relying on a call arriving.

Payment deadlines and upgradation

The document describes short fee-payment windows, including three working days in relevant merit-list provisions. Your current offer and notice govern the actual due date. Missing it can mean losing the place to the next eligible candidate.

Admission-round upgradation is based on merit and preferences. The policy says fees already deposited by upgraded candidates transfer to the new institute without deduction. Confirm any category or fee difference in the new offer; the clause does not establish that every other cost remains unchanged.

The source also warns that a previously refused institute is not automatically available later through a downgrade or waiting-list request. Refusing an acceptable offer while hoping for a higher preference is a decision to examine carefully.

Frequently asked questions

Should I courier the application to KMU instead of applying online?

No. The linked policy describes an online application and says postal/courier forms are not entertained as a replacement.

Will KMU offer a college that I leave out?

The policy says a candidate will not be offered admission to a college omitted from the preference list.

Must every applicant submit a board migration certificate with the first upload?

The document lists that certificate for admitted candidates to submit at the college where admission is offered. Follow the current stage-specific checklist.

Can I assume a three-working-day payment deadline for every offer?

No. The source uses that window in relevant provisions, but the current official offer and notice define the operative deadline.

How do I object to a provisional error?

The policy describes a written objection to the Chairman KMU-AC before placement, with further committee and appeal routes for the relevant cases. Use the current notice’s procedure and time limits.
