You have cleared the KMU interview, picked your college and paid the fee. The last step before you become an MBBS or BDS student is reporting to your college with a complete file of documents. Missing even one of them, or bringing copies that are not attested, can mean a second trip, sometimes from another city.
This guide gives you the full A to Z list of documents for college admission under KMU, explains which ones the college keeps and for how long, and shows you exactly how to attest your photocopies. It is based on KMU's latest admission policy and on what our students needed when they reported to their colleges last year.
The short answer: report to your college with your KMU call letter, paid fee challan, matric and FSc DMCs and certificates, domicile (yours and your father's), CNIC or Form B, father's CNIC copy, migration certificate, MDCAT result copy, the two affidavits (student and guardian) and 8 passport-size photos. Attest the photocopies and the back of each photo, never the originals. The college keeps your original certificates until you finish the degree.
Pay first, report later: the order of steps
Two deadlines follow the KMU interview, and they are not the same:
- The fee deadline is strict. You must deposit the fee within three working days of the interview, or the admission is cancelled. Our guide to the KMU interview and fee submission explains this step by step.
- College reporting comes later. Each college announces its own reporting dates. These are often a while after the fee deadline, because KMU's shifting and upgrade rounds are still going on. That is normal, so do not panic if your college has not called you yet.
When the reporting date comes, you go to the college with your admission (call) letter, the paid fee challan and the documents below.
Documents required at the time of college admission
These are the documents you submit at your nominated college. Where only a photocopy is needed, we say so.
| # | Document | Original or copy |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Call letter for your nominated college (given by KMU at the interview) | Original |
| 2 | Matric (SSC) DMC | Original + attested copies |
| 3 | Matric certificate | Original + attested copies |
| 4 | FSc (HSSC) DMC | Original + attested copies |
| 5 | FSc certificate (if your board has issued it; not having it yet is usually fine) | Original + attested copies |
| 6 | Your domicile certificate | Original + attested copies (front and back) |
| 7 | Father's domicile certificate (if he has passed away: his death certificate and your mother's domicile) | Attested photocopies only |
| 8 | Your CNIC or Form B | Attested photocopies only |
| 9 | MBBS/BDS fee challan receipts (the college fee challan from KMU, paid) | College copy |
| 10 | Migration certificate from your FSc board | Original |
| 11 | Passport-size photos: 8 copies, attested on the back | Photos |
| 12 | Father's or guardian's CNIC | Attested photocopies only |
| 13 | KMU MDCAT certificate or result (some colleges ask for it) | Photocopy |
| 14 | Two affidavits: the student undertaking and the father or guardian undertaking, each on its own stamp paper (some colleges make their own) | Originals |
Colleges usually take 2 to 4 of the 8 photos and hand the rest back, but carry all 8 because some offices ask for more forms with photos.
A few notes on the list
- FSc certificate: boards often issue the certificate months after the DMC. If yours has not come, colleges generally accept the DMC for now.
- Migration certificate: this one is mandatory. KMU's policy asks admitted students for a "Migration Certificate from the respective board", submitted at the college where admission is offered. You cannot sit your professional exams without it. Our guide to the board migration certificate for KMU explains how to get one in about an hour.
- MDCAT result: not every college asks for it, but a photocopy weighs nothing. Carry one.
Extra documents for special seats
Students on reserved seats need extra proof. KMU's policy asks candidates on backward area and Merged Districts seats for a certificate of location of their educational institutions, signed by the principals or headmasters, countersigned by the District Education Officer (DEO) and the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the district. The policy also lists a certificate from the institution you last attended with your duration of stay, and, if you studied FSc part I and part II at different places, a certificate showing both institutions. Disabled-quota and overseas Pakistani candidates have their own certificates. See our guides to backward area seats and Merged Districts seats for the full details.
The affidavits: student and father or guardian undertakings
You submit two undertakings, which students call affidavits: one signed by you and one by your father, mother or guardian. Each goes on its own stamp paper. In the guardian undertaking from KMU's policy, the parent or guardian:
- endorses the undertaking given by the student and promises the student will follow it during their stay at college;
- accepts liability to pay Rs 1,00,000 (one hundred thousand) for each year of study if the student breaks the undertaking;
- promises the student will not take part in politics of any type, will not join any political party, organisation or student federation, and will not attend any meeting that could lead to expulsion, with the principal's decision final.
The form is signed by the father or guardian with two witnesses, and attested with the signature and stamp of a Deputy Commissioner or First Class Magistrate. Download the form from the policy on KMU's website. Our guide to the student and guardian affidavits explains both undertakings, how to prepare them on stamp paper and which colleges make their own, with downloadable forms.
Which originals the college keeps, and for how long
This surprises many students: your college keeps your original certificates. KMU's policy says the original documents of selected candidates are retained by the college and returned when you leave the institution. In practice, that means at the end of your degree: about five years for MBBS and four for BDS.
The originals that stay with the college are:
- Matric DMC
- FSc DMC
- Matric certificate
- FSc certificate
- Domicile certificate
- Migration certificate
Scan everything first. Before you hand over a single original, scan it and save it as a PDF on your phone, in your email and on a USB drive. You will need these documents again for hostel forms, scholarships, passports and other applications during the next five years.
How to attest your documents, step by step
- Gather every original from the list above in one folder.
- Make 3 to 4 photocopies of each document.
- Scan the originals and keep them as PDFs, because the college will keep the originals for years.
- Do not attest the originals. A stamp on an original spoils it. Attestation is only for copies.
- Attest the photocopies. Attest the front of each copy. For documents with information on the back, such as the domicile, attest the back as well.
- Attest the back of each passport photo.
Who can attest?
Get your copies attested by a gazetted officer of grade 17 or above. Most students get this done by a government school teacher in grade 17, such as a Senior Subject Teacher (SST), because one is usually close to home. The officer signs and stamps each copy with their name and designation.
Take your father or guardian with you
When you report to your nominated college, take your father or guardian along. Some colleges, Ayub Medical College among them, do not accept a student's reporting without a guardian present. KMU's policy also says a parent or legal guardian must accompany every candidate at the placement interview. Going together avoids a wasted day.
After you report
Once your documents are accepted, the college completes your admission. KMU's policy adds a few things worth knowing in your first weeks:
- Each college's medical board examines selected candidates. A candidate found medically unfit is not admitted.
- All admissions are provisional until the college verifies your documents. A false or forged document means the seat is cancelled, possible blacklisting and legal action, with no fee refund.
- A first-year student who is absent for four weeks from the start of the session without a valid reason is struck off the college roll, and the seat goes to the waiting list.

Frequently asked questions
Should I attest my original documents?
No. Never attest originals. Attest only the photocopies and the back of your passport photos.
Who should attest my documents for KMU college admission?
A gazetted officer of grade 17 or above, for example a Senior Subject Teacher (SST) at a government school. They sign and stamp each copy with their name and designation.
Will the college return my original documents?
Yes, when you leave the institution. In practice that is after you finish your degree: about five years for MBBS and four for BDS. Scan everything before you hand it over.
What if my FSc certificate has not been issued yet?
Colleges usually accept the FSc DMC for now. Submit the certificate when your board issues it.
Is the migration certificate compulsory?
Yes. KMU requires it from admitted students, and you cannot sit your professional exams without it. Colleges sometimes give time if you do not have it on reporting day, but it is quick to get from your board, so get it now.
Do I need my father with me when I report to college?
Take your father or guardian. Some colleges, such as Ayub Medical College, do not accept reporting without one, and KMU's policy says a parent or guardian must accompany you at the placement interview.
How many photos should I take?
Eight passport-size photos with the back attested. Colleges usually keep 2 to 4 and return the rest.
What are the affidavits?
Two undertakings from KMU's policy: one signed by you, promising to follow the college's rules, and one by your father or guardian, with a liability of Rs 1,00,000 per year of study for any breach. Each goes on its own stamp paper. See our affidavit guide for the forms.
